ScrabbleCalling all Scrabble and backgammon fans.

Every Monday, at 2pm, down at Cafe Vita on Kalamar Road there will be a friendly, and informal gathering of Scrabble and backgammon players.

If you fancy a game, why not go along.  If you have a board, please bring it with you.  All welcome.

We have been doing a bit of behind the scenes housekeeping at KTLN.

Much of it will not be noticeable to you, however there are just a couple of things we should mention.

You will find that if you are logging in, and you have previously asked your computer to remember your log in password, it probably won't work.  You will have to type it in and save it again.  This is just a one off.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

TomatoesThe humble tomato, (Solanum lycopersicum), is technically a fruit.  It originated in South America, and has been grown as a crop for thousands of years.  The tomato spread to other parts of the world following the colonisation of South America, by the Spanish.

In Turkey, the tomato is grown in huge quantities - over 11 million tonnes of fruit every year. 

Turkey is the third largest grower in the world, after the USA and China.  Around 30% of Turkish tomatoes are processed in some way, for example, turned into paste.

Devastating earthquake hits eastern Turkey PDF Print E-mail

Reports are coming in of a devastating earthquake in eastern Turkey.

At least 57 people died, and around 100 were injured, when an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale hit the town of Karakoçan, in the province of Elazığ, at 4.32 am (local time), on Monday morning.

It seems we may have caused some confusion.

The KTLN Online Auction 2010 takes place on the weekend of 20th & 21st March, ending at 9pm UK time on Sunday night.

However we have already started to list items in the Classified Adverts.  This spreads the work of listing the items for us, and it gives you a sneak preview of what is coming up.

It has prompted a few questions, which we are happy to answer here.
