The first ever Kaya Cup final was held on Saturday. Kalkan Turkish Local News brings you the match report. Young Turks v Kalkan Kodgers - The Kaya Cup (aka The Sweet FA Cup) The lithe, young, good looking, Turkish boys were obviously unsettled by the sheer style and panache of their British opposition, (a look perfected through persistent and regular overindulgence of Efes & Marlboro light), who were proudly wearing their traditional red white and blue, and lilac. And yellow and, well anything available. The strict, and carefully balanced aforementioned diet, had prepared the British boys for the challenge ahead and in the first half, when legs were fresh, they held their own, (mainly held their own hamstrings). An enthusiastic crowd of 20, plus 15 dogs, 10 cats, and a tortoise, (woken from hibernation by the noise), were enthralled by the immense talent on display. By some quirk of fate or numerically dyslexic inaccurate scoring, the first half ended at 4-4.
Sadly, John Fed picked up an achilles injury, which will certainly rule him out of the England squad for South Africa this summer; we all wish him well. He was offered ice for the injury but turned it down unless it was accompanied by a fine malt whisky.
