Turkish alphabet
The Turkish alphabet is mostly the same as the English alphabet, however there are a few differences.  In Turkish they don't have the letters Q, W and X.  They have some extra letters, or ones that are pronounced differently:

• C c - is pronounced as J.  So Cam sounds like Jam.
• Ç ç - is pronounced as ch.  So Çilek sounds like Chilek.
• Ğ ğ - has no sound.  It lengthens the vowel that preceeds it.  Sağol sounds like saawol.
• I ı - is pronounced like uh.  So Tarık sounds like Tar-uhk.
• İ i - is like our letter i.
• J j - is pronounced like the French 'J' in Je.
  
• Ö ö - is pronounced like the er in butter.  So  Ömar sounds like er-mar.
• Ş ş - is pronounced like sh.  So Şarap sounds like sharap.
• Ü ü - is pronounced like the French 'u' in tu, or the eau bit of beautiful.  Example - gün.
